As the snow flies

On a cold and gray Chicago mornin'

A poor little baby child is born

it's another hungry mouth to feed

face down on the street with a gun in his hand

그 아이에겐 도움의 손길이 필요하다는 걸

배고픈 아이는 코를 흘리며

배가 너무 고파서

그 아이는 밤에 거리를 배회하죠

훔치는 법을 배우고

싸우는 법을 배우죠

한 젊은이가 달아나려고 하죠

총을 사고 차를 훔쳐서

달아나려 하지만 멀리 가지 못하죠

그리고 그의 엄마는 울부짖죠

사람들이 성난 젊은이 주변에 모여들 때

손에는 총을 들고 거리에 엎어져있는

빈민가에서

아들이 죽어갈 때

춥고 흐린 시카고의 아침에

또다른 갓난 아이가 태어났죠
